Red Cross Thank Unitarians for Raising £95,000

British Unitarians gather in Birmingham for their Eighty-ninth Annual Meetings from 10 to 13 April 2017. The Meetings are an opportunity for Unitarians and Free Christians to gather together for worship, business, learning and fun. A programme for children and young people will run during the event.

Executive Committee Election 2017

Nominations are sought for the Executive Committee of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches. There are six vacancies. The Executive Committee acts as the General Assembly’s body of trustees and has to fulfil its legal responsibilities, in particular those associated with being a registered charity. Executive Committee members are also Trustees of the Nightingale Centre (CC no 242256).

Christian-Muslim Peace service wins praise

Around 100 people attended a joint Christian-Muslim service of worship on Sunday 23rd October at Padiham Unitarian Chapel, Lancashire.   The service – entitled 'Uniting for Peace' -- included readings from scripture, prayers for peace, hymn singing and Sufi mystical chanting (in Arabic, Urdu and English).   Many attenders praised the ‘joyful spirit’ that prevailed.

Unitarians celebrate London Pride

London Unitarians have launched a short film highlighting their participation in London Pride. Thirty-five Unitarians and Free Christians from across London and the South East celebrated Pride on Saturday 2 July 2016. They joined the Parade to Trafalgar Square, with specially designed colourful Chalice banners, walking behind the Gay Muslim group and in front of the LGBT Refugee and Asylum seekers group. The banners showed  Unitarian support for same sex marriage and refugee rights.
