1. Hurricane Matthew Haiti Appeal - Urgent

The Executive Committee of the General Assembly today issued the following Appeal to Unitarians throughout the UK.

The humanitarian disaster caused in Haiti by Hurricane Matthew last week has caused massive devastation to the people of Haiti at a time when they are still struggling to recover from the damage caused by a previous hurricane a few years ago. We urge everybody to do what they can to help these people in their time of need by contributing to the Clara Barton Fund of the British Red Cross.

1. Findhorn Unitarian Network (FUN) Bookings Open

Dates: Saturday 7 January at 2 pm to 9 am on Saturday 14 January 2017, Forres, Scotland. 

UK Unitarians are welcome to apply to attend a Unitarian Experience Week at the Findhorn Foundation in northern Scotland. The programme provides an opportunity to experience the daily spiritual practice of an inter-faith community from a Unitarian perspective.

  1. General Assembly Roll of Ministers

    The Recommendations of the Ministry Strategy Group and Interview Panel were approved and we are pleased to announce:

    - that having successfully completed their probationary period, Rev Cody Coyne and Rev Winnie Gordon have been added to the Roll of Ministers with Full Status.

1. Death of Rev John Roberts

It is with sadness that I report the death of Rev John Roberts on 9 July 2016 at a nursing home near Preston. His wife, Rev Daphne Roberts, and family members were with him. His funeral will take place at 3.00pm on Tuesday 19 July at Charnock Richard Crematorium, Preston Road, Chorley, PR5 5JP. All are welcome afterwards to a buffet at the Dog and Partridge, 30 Chorley Lane, Charnock Richard, Chorley, PR7 5ES. Donations in John's memory can be made to Parkinson's UK.

1. Statement on the outcome of the EU Referendum by Derek McAuley, Chief Officer of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches

The result of the European Union Referendum has revealed a sharply divided nation and much dissatisfaction with the current political and economic system. Faith and community groups working on the ground have a responsibility to do all in their power to ensure communities stick together at this time of uncertainty and change.
